1. Solve a real problem, extremely well

Your business needs to make somebody's life better. Find that person. Solve her problem extremely well.

2. Help your customer talk about you.

Provide tools for your customer to talk about how great your product/service is.Help them blog about it. Help them share it with thier Myspace/Facebook/Twitter friends.

3. Network with your customers to find others who facing the same problem.

You don't need to look very far to find other customers. Your existing customer already knows some people who are facing the problem. Ask her. Find somebody and goto step 1

I would say that the best way to create a world wide rave is first to create something that's relevant to people all around the globe. Second, give away your best stuff absolutely free. Don't require an email address, a password, or any other barrier or hoops for people to jump through.

Third, get the word out to as many people as you can announcing the freebie and ask all of them to get the word out and ask them to ask others to get the word out, etc.

Lastly, say please and thank you a lot, and mean it!

Ok, I'll just go ahead and send you my mailing address because winning these books was meant to be! I kid you not, I was at Border's just 2 hours ago looking for "The New Rules of Marketing & PR" and couldn't find it, even though their little computer database said it was "likely in stock". I checked like 3 times, spent about 20 minutes combing the shelves to make sure it didn't get put back in the wrong section, went back to the computer to make sure I had the right section and it changed from "likely in stock" to "order now".

Then I come home, try to catch up on my RSS feeds and I see THIS! Its fate, I'm tellin' ya.

Oh, and before I share my tip for creating a World Wide Wave, I also wanted to make sure I let you know that I did tweet this too.

Now...my suggestion for creating a World Wide Wave: Inject some personality into your business. Make it a living, breathing force instead of just some text on a website. You didn't just start a business, you CREATED it and its up to you to breathe life into it.

That's a loaded question. There's so many things that go into it, but I would say that the biggest thing is that your marketing can't be boring.
