Marketing to Women? Better Get Social
Written on May 15, 2009 by Susan Payton
You probably know this, but women are social creatures. We like to communicate, share and refer. The 2009 Women in Social Media Study by BlogHer, iVillage and Compass Partners, proves that we’re doing that via social media. If your target audience is women, you’d do well to read the report.

The study said that women are twice as likely to use blogs as social media for getting information. They also use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to keep up with friends and family.
Let me speak slowly. Women are on social media. A lot. If you’re there, they can find your brand and buy from you. It’s pretty simple.
Do I still need to convince you that social media is where you need to be with your marketing??

I love you make an emphasis on accessing women through social media. Women have long been an important but underestimated consumer group. But think about it, who does the shopping in the family? Its usually women. And busy women like convenience, efficiency and effectiveness. Social media allows them all that. Great post!
Good points, Leslie. Also, we are the communicators. How many friends have told you about a great product and you listened? That’s how we work on social media too. Thanks for reading!

I think that direct marketing works perfectly for women as women could be easily influenced by others like their girlfriends or family.
In the modern society, few companies could afford to neglect the great purchasing power of the women group. All kinds of marketing approches have been specially tailored to meet the needs of this group. Email marketing is among the most cost-effective ways.
You obviously put a lot of work into that post and its very interesting to see the thought process that you went through to come up with those conclusion. Thanks for sharing your deep thoughts. I must admit that I think you nailed it on this one.
