Why Writing Articles and Blogs WORKS

Egg has been taking on more and more writing for clients. Blog posts, web copy, article writing. I’m happy to see more companies realize that writing these things is marketing. A few years ago, they saw articles or blog posts as a waste of money, and preferred to put advertising dollars into those annoying pop up ads. Now they see the light!

I write this blog to market my business. Now, you might not get that sense when you read it (and really, that’s my aim), but the motive is there. If you’re in the market for a marketing and PR firm and stumble across The Marketing Eggspert Blog, I hope you’re inclined to think that I, as President of Egg Marketing, know what I’m talking about. I consider this blog my resume; it serves as an example of what I know and what I can do through my business.

But enough about me. Back to you. Here’s a few things you may not know about how article marketing and blogs work:

  • For every article distribution site that publishes your article (with a link back to your company website), that puts you that much closer to being at the top of a given search in your industry.
  • Google loves links. If you get your link on a dozen sites through an article you have written, that tells Google that your site is worthy of paying attention to.
  • People love information. Think about a search you’ve done. You’ve probably ended up on a site like Ezinearticles or IdeaMarketers looking for information on something like “how to change your own oil” or “what is negligence?” Reading an informative article can lead them back to your website.
  • People look for blogs from companies these days. Don’t have one? You might not be taken seriously.
  • Blogs and article writing are free if you do them in-house, and very affordable if you hire a company like Egg to write them and distribute them for you.

If you are using blogs or articles as a tool to market but aren’t sure how to measure results, check your analytics for your site. See where your traffic is coming from. You can easily see what traffic came from an article marketing site or your blog.

Look at it this way: you’ve tried every type of marketing or advertising that doesn’t work. What do you have to lose to try something that has proven itself?
